While we hope you don’t have emergencies on the big day, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. We’ve come up with a list of all those just-in-case items that will ensure your dream wedding goes off without a hitch. No matter how much you plan and how detailed your day-of itinerary gets, wedding day hiccups are bound to happen. And that’s where this handy little kit comes in. The maid of honor should pack these emergency items in a tote bag and stash the bag in a safe but easy-to-access place during the wedding reception.

1. Mini sewing kit with scissors, needles, thread, buttons, and safety pins: For those “make it work” moments.
2. Tweezers: From stray hairs to splinters.

4. Extra undergarments: For when baby powder just doesn’t cut it.
5. Q-tips & makeup remover:  For eyeliner mistakes.
6. Blotting papers: For absorbing shine and oil on your face.
7. Tampons/panty liners: Even if you don’t need one, someone else will.
8. Doublestep Foot Treatment and Friction Stick: Prevent blisters so you all can dance the night away.
9. Nail polish and a nail file: Polish chips and stocking runs don’t stand a chance.
10. Tissues: For those happy tears.
11. Mini first aid kit with Band-Aids, burn relief, liquid bandages, and antiseptic: Safety first!
12. Medicine (pain reliever, allergy medicine, antacid): Take precautions for the big three issues that can attack at any moment—especially under stress: headaches, allergies, and indigestion.
13. Sunscreen: Even if the wedding is indoors, if the wedding party will be outside for photos, make sure to have this on hand. (Depending on your climate, add bug spray for the same reason. Unscented for both!)
14. Towelettes: For freshening up on the go.
15. Deodorant: Chances are, someone probably forgot to use it this morning.
16. Razor: Same reason as to why we bring deodorant.
17. Granola bars or other easy-to-carry snacks: Nobody wants a hungry bride on their hands!
18. Straws: So the bride can stay hydrated without messing up her lipstick.
19. Super Glue: For fixing shoes, nails, jewelry, head pieces, and more.
20. Pen and paper: For last minute reminders, thank you notes, and secret messages between the bride and groom.
21. Breath mints: Hand her one right before she walks down the aisle, so the first kiss is minty fresh.
22. Stain remover pen: For spills and would-be stains on the dresses.
23. White chalk: If something gets on the wedding dress and it just won’t come out, you can usually mask the stain with chalk.
24. Lighter: For sealing the edge of frayed ribbons.
25. White duct tape: It’s true what they say—it can fix anything!
26. Lint roller: Especially helpful for the groom and groomsmen’s suits.
27. Cash: Just in case!
28. Dental floss/toothpicks: Just in case those snacks in the bridal suite try to overstay their welcome.
29. Eye drops: Don’t let red eyes ruin your beauty prep!
30. Extension cord and phone charger(s): The bride is stuck in the makeup chair, her phone’s about to die, but she needs to call the caterer. Suddenly, you’re a lifesaver.
31. Lotion: For taming dry patches and flyaways.
32. Toothbrush and toothpaste: It’s not uncommon for a bride to be so excited when she wakes up that she forgets to brush her teeth.
33. Extra earring backs: You never know when those little guys will go missing.
34. Hair elastics and bobby pins: You can never have too many on hand.
35. Alcohol: When all else fails, a little liquid courage is the ultimate backup.

Spring/Summer Hairstyles

Spring weather has finally arrived and after spring, summer quickly approaches, and with that comes a change of clothes and hairstyles that we just can’t get enough of. From big statement outfits to glamorous hairstyles, this spring there are a lot of variety from floral and pastel outfits combined with wispy hairstyles that will make you standout. This season’s hairstyles channel a flirty, loose, and wispy vibe; while adding floral accessories give it a more chic look. Check out some of the top head to toe styles that will take over this spring season.

1) The messy ponytail

You could  throw your hair up into a ponytail the night before, and then the next morning. You have a messy, bedhead, yet gorgeous, ponytail!

2) Braided hair!

Braids can be the main attraction, or just a little accessory in your hair! You can have one small braid, combine two braids to make one, or just make a really cool looking braid that will catch everyone’s attention.

3) Crazy colored hair.

Dying your hair is so much fun! You could do a whole head dye, a gradient/ombre dye, or just do dip dye.

 4) The Bob Haircut.
These hair styles are super cute.  You don’t have to worry about maintaining your long hair in the heat, but its just long enough to do tons of different styles like curls, waves, and braids.

5) Half-up, Half-down.

My personal favorite out of all of the half-up, half-down hair styles is the twisty braid on the top. They’re so cute but so simple to do. It is super practical and super easy to do. And, there’s a variety of styles to choose from.

 6) The hair accessories
As you can see, there are flowers, bandanas, bobby pins, and cool chains that you can put on to decorate your head full of hair. These small details can make your outfit stand out.

How To: Brides Makeup Essential

1. Cleansing the Face:

I learned that Indian brides love to use bold and bright colors for their marriage ceremonies. In order to achieve that long lasting look, our best advice is cleanse your face well and then pat it dry so as to ensure that there are no traces of dirt or oil on the face.

2. Base Preparation Tips:

Moisturizing your face is very important and it creates a smooth appearance and makes your skin tone event. Do not forget to moisturize and the best way to moisturize is to use your fingertips and rub well in a circular and gentle motion.

3. Face Fix Up Tips:

a. Use a primer 2 minutes after you apply moisturizer and blend it well as it helps to keep your concealer and foundation in place and holds it for long hours.

b. It is also equally important to use a concealer to cover spots or blemishes. You can brighten up your skin tone by using any of the color concealers like yellow or green to cover reddish blemishes on the skin.

c. Apply a foundation without SPF and blend it well with a makeup brush especially on to the underside of your eyes, and for the rest of your face, blend using a makeup sponge.

4. Bronzer Tips:

Take an angular brush and apply with strokes on to the sides of chin. Do the same on the sides of the forehead as well as on the two sides along the nose bone but not on the top. Suck your cheeks in and use some bronzer on to the top part of the contours near to the ear in light strokes.

5. Blush Tips:

Take some blush on a blush brush and pat excess off, let your cheeks in and apply in strokes moving from down to top near the ears.

6. Eye Shadow Tips:

Indian brides love peachy eye makeup shades, since they it goes well with their red, fuchsia or green heavy saris.
Paint up your eyelids with a peachy pink shade, and use some charcoal shadow on the exterior lid contours to give a ravishing Smokey effect. You can also use golden shadow instead of silver for the brow bones.

7. Eye Liner Tips:

It’s better to use plain and simple jet-black liner, preferably water proof. Draw a thick lining on top and a heavy lining with a strong kajal on the bottom making a sided wing lining. Don’t forget to use a volume enhancing mascara. Mascara’s with curled brushes work great for awesome curly lashes. Grab some false lashes to accentuate and pop up your eyes making them look more opened up and bright. Remember to give some trials before the wedding date just to make sure it wouldn’t consume more time on the wedding day.

8. Lipstick Tips:

If you have thin lip line then line your lips along the natural line with a color almost as your normal skin color. If you have plumper lips, then line the natural lip line with a darker shade. Wear a lipstick matching your dress. Go for maroon or dark reds for bigger and fuller lips and peachy pink or light pink color for thin lips.
Thin-lipped people can apply a lip plumper instead of a lip-gloss, whereas big-lipped people can use a simple lip-gloss.

Pakistani Bridal Trends

“Your dresses should be tight enough to show you’re a woman and loose enough to show you’re a lady.” Edith Head, an award-winning American costume designer

This quote by Edith may or may not justify your personality. But your outfit for a special occasion like your wedding should make people go wow. A wedding is an important occasion in a woman’s life; the occasion calls for moments of celebration, joy and laughter. All these emotions will be reflected in the wedding attires you choose to bedeck yourself with. While there are no dearth of designers and designer outfits today, you need to make the right choice as it is your big day. You can wear different outfits for different wedding functions. Some prefer to adhere to yellow and green tones, which are traditional colors, for the mehndi function. The best way to get inspired is by keeping an eye out for trends.

These days, increasing number of women are opting for non-traditional colors for their weddings. While the traditional red may be a favorite among many women, women, these days, are not afraid to be bold and experiment. Today, would-be brides want to incorporate traditional elements of her South Asian heritage and her Western aesthetics into her wedding outfit. Stylish and elegant prints, and soft and dark colors like beige, peach, light green, orange, yellow, pink, green are all colors to look out for this season. Fabrics like chiffon, hand-woven silk, etc are also trend-setters. Long gowns with trains in intricate embellishment in gold and copper work are going to become the hot favorites.

Your wedding trousseau is incomplete without accessories. So match your wedding attire with some beautiful pieces of intricate glittering stone jewellery in the form of necklace or ear rings or even a headpiece. If you have a round-shaped face, then you should wear a long necklace encrusted in stones, like for instance: If you have an oval-shaped face, you can play with your accessories. Big hoops and danglers will suit you Hopefully, now you will find it easier to select the perfect bridal outfit for your special day. The key is to go with a color and style that is comfortable and aligned with your personal style and aesthetics.

The Winter Wedding

wedding blog

Now that winter is around the corner, the winter wedding festivities have begun! This seasons latest wedding themes are inspired by rich colors such as peacock blue with a modern twist. No longer is the purely traditional aesthetic a desire for most brides. Todays modern bride wants to include the traditional elements of her South Asian heritage along with the her western aesthetics and identity. This brings together a colorful yet sophisticated ambiance for winter wedding this year. Here are some winter wedding theme tips:

  • Select a main color that is bold and rich such as peacock blue or magenta or winter white
  • Accent this with a pop of gold or silver, depending on your preference
  • Instead of roses, go for orchids or tulips for a modern and clean look
  • Create a sense of elegant luxury without overstatement by adding light chiffon or georgette drapes throughout the venue.  Sheer fabrics create a dramatic but light ambiance.
  • Use candles (electric) to create a holiday glow and glitter throughout the venue.  The shimmer of candles is both relaxing and creates a “candle light” dinner vibe.

Keep It Simple

Lets face it, we have more things to do than we can keep up with. But that doesn’t mean we can’t look good in the process. Mirage keeps things simple with formal wear that is elegant and practical. Gone are the days with excessive embroideries! Formal wear is now focused more on fabric and style instead of how ornate a piece is.  This allows for a more versatile wardrobe since you can always dress up an outfit with jewelry and accessories.  But you can’t remove embroidery when you’re not in the mood to be decked out like a Christmas tree.
